The new ’24’ series, which is being developed by Fox is to be a total reset and will not see a return for Kiefer Sutherland’s iconic Jack Bauer character.
According to information revealed to reporters during Fox’s summer press tour the series is to be a complete reset, which sadly means we’ll not see any of the surviving characters from the previous series.
The new show will focus on a new younger agent who will take centre stage in place of Jack Bauer.
“Obviously we would love to have Kiefer [Sutherland] and we went to him first,” said Fox chairman and CEO Gary Newman. “It isn’t something he wants to do at this point, but he encouraged us to continue and look for a way to bring the show back.” The network has been weighing the possibility of a Kiefer-less 24 since January.
The tough question Fox is having to ask here is whether or not an audience will turn up for ’24’ without Jack Bauer. He has been such an integral part of the shows success. It will be interesting though to see how all this unfolds and learn about this new as yet undeveloped character that will head up the new series.
