Today marked the first day of ‘Star Wars Celebration Europe’ and it gave fans cause to celebrate given that some new footage was released from ‘Rogue One’.
The footage gives a behinds the scenes look at the making of ‘Rogue One’ and includes additional comments from the movies director Gareth Edwards.
The event, which is taking place in London included a panel of the ‘Rogue One’ cast, which included director Gareth Edwards and head of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy.
The movie centers on Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a fighter brought into the Rebellion to assist on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star ahead of the events of George Lucas‘ 1977 sci-fi classic. Events are complicated by the fact that one of the scientists working on the project is her father, played by Mads Mikkelsen.
The movie has been rumoured to have had a few troubles. Which led to a fairly large amount of re-shoots being made in order to bring it closer to the tone of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’. Last month, in what might have been a move to counter bad buzz regarding the re-shoots, it was confirmed that Darth Vader will appear in the movie. In fact a second teaser was shown at the event, which included a glimpse of Darth Vader, which unfortunately hasn’t made it online.
‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ will be released Dec. 16. Star Wars Celebration Europe continues through July 17, and is being livestreamed via StarWars.com.
One things for sure. As someone that seen all the original ‘Star Wars’ films at the cinema. I can’t wait to see how the rebels managed to steal the Death Star plans. One things for sure. The theft of the Death Star plans will make for a much more fun story than Anakin Skywalkers journey to the dark side.
