HBO’s hugely popular fantasy series ‘Game Of Thrones’ has gone for four years without ever using a single flashback sequence, which thanks to series such as ‘Lost’ have become somewhat of a cliche for regular television shows.
The fifth season though will change this because it will feature the shows first ever flashback sequence, which takes us back to the earlier days of the series.
In a recent chat to Entertainment Weekly executive producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss discussed why they are now going to use Flashbacks for particular story points.
According to a translation, the pair said: “By making the first season, we set a rule – no prophecies, dreams or flashbacks. We failed the first two and this season the third. So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.”
The cast and crew of HBO’s fantasy drama are filming scenes for the fifth season in Seville and Osuna, as well as locations in Northern Ireland and Croatia.
Game of Thrones will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2015.
