SFP-NOW Speaks To ‘Ghost Wars’ Actor Philip Granger

Writer, Producer & Director Philip Granger chats with SFP-NOW's Ian Cullen about his career.

Last weekend SFP-NOW. The official podcast of scifipulse.net released a fantastic interview with the actor, director, and producer Philip Granger, who is best known to SciFi Fans for his role in ‘Ghost Wars’.

Originating from Canada. Philip Granger is one of the many actors that made the move to Hollywood in the 70’s and 80’s but eventually found himself going back to Canada as the TV and Movie industry began to thrive out in Toronto and Vancouver.

Philip shares some wonderful stories with the podcast about his early days in Hollywood and talks about how he met and befriended James Cameron and the late Bill Paxton while working for Roger Corman’s production company on various movies, which included the cult classic ‘Battle Beyond The Stars’.

The actor also talks about his Gemini Award-winning role of Walter from the TV series ‘Neon Rider’,  which saw his character get the HIV virus after being stabbed with a needle while trying to help a troubled teen.

We also touch on ‘Ghost Wars’, which saw Philip take on a somewhat comedic role as Winston who is a character that thinks he is very much in charge, but isn’t.

Philip also talks about Woodland, which is a film he was working on when he heard about the death of his friend Bill Paxton. He also talked about the humanity of Bill as a person and described what he was like to both works with as well as the long friendship that they shared.

Another movie we discuss is the movie ‘A.M.I.’ that explores some interesting themes around artificial intelligence and what could happen if someone were to become dependent on it.

Philip also talked a little about ‘The Great Budda Arrival’, which is a new movie that he has just started working on.
