Fans of ‘Star Wars’ are a pretty psyched bunch right now.
Not only do the have the return of ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ just around the corner and the new movie trilogy kicking off in December, but they also have much to look forward to on the gaming front as well and it would seem that ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’, which will drop in November will tie in with an interesting story element from the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer, which already has fans chattering.
In the movies trailer we seen a downed Star Destroyer on the planet of Jakku.
New imagery from the ‘Star Wars: Battlefront Game’, which is promoting the games first DLC that will be out in December also shows us an exact shot of what appears to be the same Star Destroyer and given that the DLC is set on Jakku it can only mean that the game will have the backstory to exactly what happened.
Described by Electronic Arts as “the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet” — a desert planet that will feature in December’s J.J. Abrams-directed movie as the home for new hero Rey (Daisy Ridley) — the battle is said to take place in the aftermath of the destruction of the second Death Star, as seen in Return of the Jedi.
The art was created by Anton Grandert, who described the pieces as having a “David and Goliath” theme, with “the epic, huge superstructures of the Star Destroyers contrast[ing] against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces.”
“The Battle of Jakku” will available as downloadable content for those who preordered Battlefront on Dec. 1, with it receiving a general release a week later, giving fans time to catch up on the game before Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters Dec. 18.
‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ will be out in all good stores and online on November 17 across all major gaming formats.
Until then may the force be with you.
